Coco Crisp Charges the Mound

Coco Crisp charges the mound at Fenway. Checkout the initial punch he dodges, then lands one of his own. However, he would then get thrown to the ground by the D-Rays catcher and then punched a few times by more D-Rays.

ok...I've always wanted to ask this, and maybe you've answered this for me before, but why would any pitcher try to hit a batter on purpose?

How did the announcers KNOW it was going to happen?

Great vid!

Because they must. It's usually done out or retaliation for some other incident. They hit our guy so we will hit their guy. Intimidation, keeping the upper hand. Male ego. Sticking up for your guys. Usually the manager demands it, but he would never admit it. When a pitcher hits a player by accident, the other team never really knows if that's true, sometimes they think it was done on purpose, especially if it was done to a star player and hits them in like the elbow or head, even if by accident, the other team will think it was on purpose.
